After very careful consideration, we made the difficult decision to end our Backpacks for Youth program on December 31st, 2024.
We understand how important this program has been to the community and to the young people we serve, but we promise this decision was not made lightly. Being completely run by volunteers, except for our summer students covered by a Canada Summer Job grant, we need to ensure that the programs we run are sustainable for our team, resources, and funding, while providing the level of service and long-term impact that our youth deserve and that better align with our mission of disrupting the cycle of poverty by providing programs that reduce barriers and support the mental health, growth, and development of school-age children and youth in Simcoe County.
This change has allowed us to expand our much-needed hygiene product program and launch our life-changing program, Calm H.O.M.E.S. (Healthy, Organized, Manageable, Educated, Spaces) that focuses on addressing mental health and clutter.
